My Approach

I know it can be overwhelming trying to find the right therapist so I hope to offer you some insight as to how I work to see whether that feels the best fit for you. 

At the forefront of my work, I believe the relationship we build together is most important. Good therapy can feel like a relief - sometimes that might be gaining clarity or perspective, other times as though you are able to put down or share the load of a heavy weight you have been carrying.

I am an integrative, relational counsellor which means I am qualified in a range of counselling and psychotherapy approaches and can tailor sessions to meet your individual needs. 

Where appropriate I might use techniques from:

  • Person-Centred theory

  • Transactional Analysis (TA)

  • Psychodynamic Theory

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

While I use techniques from different approaches, therapy is not something that is done to you, I won’t tell you what to do. But I will provide you with a nurturing and empowering environment where we can work together to help you process or resolve what is going on for you. Where appropriate and if you agree, I can include some gentle challenges but I work at your pace and the content is guided by you. 

I have particular experience of working with anxiety, depression and bereavement as well as relational issues and personal development. 

Our First Session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to explore together why you are seeking counselling, how we might work together and whether I am the right therapist for you. There isn’t any obligation to continue with the sessions after our initial meeting.

If you would like to continue after our first session then we would arrange a regular session for us to work together. I provide both time-limited and open ended therapy sessions face-to-face, by telephone or online. 

Cost

Face to face, online and telephone sessions last 60 minutes and cost £55. 

My preferred method of payment is bank transfer but I can also accept cash. Payment is taken upon booking for our first session and is due the day of our session for future sessions.

Please let me know as early as possible if you are unable to make your appointment. I will try and reschedule your session if possible. Cancellations or missed sessions are charged at the session rate if notified less than 48 hours from the time of the appointment.
